one, of the acts of eighteen hundred and twenty-eight, and an


act supplementary to the same was passed on February eighth,


eighteen hundred and thirty, being chapter sixty-eight, of the


acts of eighteen hundred and twenty-nine, and an act further


supplementary to the same was passed on January twenty-eighth,


eighteen hundred and fifty, being chapter thirty-three, of the


acts of eighteen hundred and forty-nine, changing the name of


the corporation, and an act further supplementary to the same


was passed March tenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, being


chapter three hundred and ninety-four, of the acts of eighteen


hundred and sixty-four, and an act to revive and continue the


same was passed on March twenty-second, eighteen hundred and


seventy-six, chapter sixty-eight, of the acts of eighteen hundred


and seventy-six, and the said corporation desires to have said


several acts amended and reduced into one, and the name of the


corporation changed; therefore,


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Maryland,


That said several acts be amended and reduced into one, so that all

the rights, duties, powers and operations of said corporation, and


of all its officers shall be continued under the following provisions


after this act takes effect.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is hereby


continued under the corporate name of " The Baltimore humane


impartial society and aged women's and aged men's homes," and


by that name it shall have succession, and be capable in law of

purchasing, building, selling, leasing and conveying lands and


tenements, goods and chattels and other property, real and per-
sonal, and to take any property by gift, devise or otherwise, within


and without this State, and to sue and to be sued, plead and be


impleaded, and to make, have and use a common seal, and the


same to break, alter and renew at pleasure, and in general to do


all acts and things which may be necessary to carry into effect


the purposes of its incorporation, and the provisions of this act,


including the maintenance at homes for aged women and for


aged men.


SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the present members shall re-


tain their membership as heretofore acquired, and any other per-


son who shall make a donation at any one time to the funds of

said corporation of the sum of thirty dollars, shall be a member


thereof for life; and any person who shall subscribe and pay to


the funds of the corporation not less than three dollars annually


by said subscription and payment, shall become a member of said


corporation and shall continue a member thereof so long as such

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the annual meeting for the
