CHAPTER 34.


AN ACT to repeal section two hundred and ninety, of article


seventeen, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Prince


George's county," sub-title "Roads," and to re-enact the same


with amendments.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Maryland,

thereupon re-enacted so as to read as follows, viz :


290. In addition to the proper proportion of the general road
tax levied annually for ordinary expenses of repairs of roads and


bridges within the county, the county commissioners shall have


power, in their discretion, upon the petition of thirty or more


land-owners in any district, to levy upon the assessable property


therein an additional and special tax of not more than ten cents

sioners; provided, however, that if in any case a majority of the
