LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, said John W. Massie has departed this life intestate,


and letters of administration have been granted upon his estate


to his daughter Virginia C. Massie; therefore


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the treasurer of the State be and he is hereby directed upon


the warrant of the comptroller therefor, which warrant he is


hereby authorized, to draw to pay to Virginia C. Massie, adminis-


tratrix of John W. Massie, deceased, the sum of sixty-five dollars

and sixty-three cents, the same being taxes on commissions by


said Massie as executor of Winfield M. Simpson, deceased, erro-


neously paid to the register of wills of Baltimore city on the


nineteenth day of July in the year eighteen hundred and eighty-


seven, as taxes on commissions in accordance with section ninety-


seven, of article eighty-one, of the Code of Public General Laws


of the State of Maryland, and which said sum has been covered


into the treasury.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 242.


AN ACT to amend article fifteen, of the declaration of rights of


the constitution of this State.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,

an amendment to article fifteen, of the declaration of rights of the


constitution of this State, and if adopted by the legal and qualified


voters thereof as herein provided, it shall supersede and stand in


the place and stead of article fifteen of the declaration of rights

ARTICLE 15. All taxes ought to be uniform upon the same kinds


of property or class of subjects and should be levied and collected


under general laws, but the General Assembly may by general


laws exempt from taxation all public property used for public
