Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, said John W. Massie has departed this life intestate,
|
|
|
|
and letters of administration have been granted upon his estate
|
|
|
|
to his daughter Virginia C. Massie; therefore
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|
|
|
|
That the treasurer of the State be and he is hereby directed upon
|
|
|
|
the warrant of the comptroller therefor, which warrant he is
|
|
|
|
hereby authorized, to draw to pay to Virginia C. Massie, adminis-
|
|
|
|
tratrix of John W. Massie, deceased, the sum of sixty-five dollars
|
|
|
To pay
|
and sixty-three cents, the same being taxes on commissions by
|
|
|
|
said Massie as executor of Winfield M. Simpson, deceased, erro-
|
|
|
|
neously paid to the register of wills of Baltimore city on the
|
|
|
|
nineteenth day of July in the year eighteen hundred and eighty-
|
|
|
|
seven, as taxes on commissions in accordance with section ninety-
|
|
|
|
seven, of article eighty-one, of the Code of Public General Laws
|
|
|
|
of the State of Maryland, and which said sum has been covered
|
|
|
|
into the treasury.
|
|
|
Effective.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from
|
|
|
|
the date of its passage.
|
|
|
|

CHAPTER 242.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to amend article fifteen, of the declaration of rights of
|
|
|
|
the constitution of this State.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|
|
|
|
Three-fifths of all the members of the two houses concurring,
|
|
|

that the following article be and the same is hereby proposed as
|
|
|
|
an amendment to article fifteen, of the declaration of rights of the
|
|
|
|
constitution of this State, and if adopted by the legal and qualified
|
|
|
|
voters thereof as herein provided, it shall supersede and stand in
|
|
|
|
the place and stead of article fifteen of the declaration of rights
|
|
|
|
of said constitution.
|
|
|
|
ARTICLE 15. All taxes ought to be uniform upon the same kinds
|
|
|
|
of property or class of subjects and should be levied and collected
|
|
|
|
under general laws, but the General Assembly may by general
|
|
|
|
laws exempt from taxation all public property used for public
|
|
|

purposes, all churches or buildings used exclusively for public
|
|
|
|
worship and the furniture contained therein and the parsonages
|
|
|
|
connected therewith, burying grounds not used for private or
|
|
|
|
corporate profit, all purely charitable or benevolent institutions,
|

literary or educational institutions, with the furniture and equip-
|
|
|
|
ment contained in such charitable, benevolent, literary or educa-
|
|
|
|
tional institutions, and the grounds appurtenant to such churches,
|
|
|
|
houses of public worship, charitable or benevolent, literary or
|
|
|
