SEC. 245. The county commissioners shall annually pay to the
|

mayor and city council of Laurel when and as collected (but less
|
|
|
|
the expenses of collection) all taxes levied or taxed for public
|

roads on property within the limits of said town, which shall be

expended by the said mayor and city council in the repair and
|
|
|

improvements of the streets and roads within the limits of said
|

SEC. 2. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

246 A. The mayor and city council shall have all powers here-

tofore granted to the commissioners of Laurel by any act of assem-

bly not hereby expressly repealed, and shall assume and be liable
|
|
|
|
for all obligations assumed by the commissioners of Laurel or
|
|
|
|
heretofore imposed by any act of assembly not herein expressly
|
|
|
|
repealed by this act, and the commissioners of Laurel now in office

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from

|
|
the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 202.
|

|
|
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay for land that
|
|
|
|
may be acquired for the extension of the Maryland penitentiary
|
|
|
|
and for the erection of necessary buildings thereon.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|
|
|
|
That the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000,)

treasury not otherwise appropriated, to pay for the land that may
|
|
|

liereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant on the treas-
|
|

urer, payable to the order of the board of directors of the Mary-
|
|
|
|
land penitentiary, for the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars
|
|
|
|
($25,000,) annually for the years eighteen hundred and ninety,
