SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland^

Assembly of Maryland, passed at January session of eighteen

powered to re-index administration and guardian accounts and.

ing to be paid out of the surplus proceeds of the register of wills


office; and if there be no such surplus, then the county commis-


sioners of said county shall levy to said Albert H. Dowden, reg-


ister of wills, as other county charges are levied, for said re-index-


ing a fair and reasonable compensation for said work.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from:


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 183.


AN ACT to create a treasurer for Calvert county and to provide


for the collection of taxes therein.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the governor of the State of Maryland, by and with the


advice and consent of the senate, shall appoint a competent per-


son resident of Calvert county treasurer for said county, who shall


give bond and qualify as hereinafter directed, and who shall be

ineligible for election until one full term has elapsed and who


shall hold his office until his successor is elected and qualifies as


hereinafter provided, and who shall be subject at all times to be


removed by the governor for wilful neglect of duty or misde-


meanor in office upon conviction in a court of law; the said treas-


urer shall be collector of all State and county taxes for whatso-


ever purpose or purposes levied or to be levied, for or within said


county during the term of his office or that may be placed in his


hands for collection, and he shall have full power, and it shall be


his duty to receive and collect all State and county taxes levied as
