fied voters of said last mentioned counties respectively to endorse the
bonds of said railroad as follows, viz : Talbot county to the amount


of fifty thousand dollars, Dorchester county to the amount of


thirty thousand dollars, and Wicomico county to the amount of


twenty-five thousand dollars; and,


WHEREAS, said act of Assembly of eighteen hundred and eighty-
six, chapter five hundred and nine, was by joint resolution num-


ber eleven, duly approved by the General Assembly of eighteen


hundred and eighty-eight, as the constitution of this State directs,

but owing to the failure of Baltimore city to endorse said bonds


the county commissioners of said counties of Talbot, Dorchester


and Wicomico are unable to exercise the discretion reposed in


them by the acts of Assembly and resolution number eleven afore-


said; and,


WHEREAS, the said Baltimore and Eastern Shore railroad com-


pany relying upon the endorsements authorized by the acts of As-


sembly and resolution aforesaid, and the votes of the majority of


the qualified voters of Talbot, Dorchester and Wicomico counties

respectively, has contracted for the building of said railroad from


Salisbury, in Wicomico county, to Broad cove in Talbot county,


and has in good faith nearly completed said road in Talbot county ;


and,


WHEREAS, the said Baltimore and Eastern Shore railroad com-


pany has agreed to accept from said counties of Talbot, Dor-

chester and Wicomico a subscription to the capital stock of said


company in lieu of the endorsement of its second mortgage bonds


in the manner above recited; and,


WHEREAS, at the election held on the eighth day of November,


in the year eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, the question of


endorsement of said bonds of said railroad company to the amount


of sixteen thousand dollars was submitted to the qualified voters


of Caroline county, and a majority of said voters determined

road passes the question of subscription to the capital stock of


said railroad company to the qualified voters of said county; there-

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Maryland,

and Caroline counties, be and they are hereby authorized and


empowered to subscribe to the capital stock of said Baltimore and


Eastern Shore railroad company in the following manner, to wit :
