SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That in order to facilitate


the construction and use of the road of the Western Maryland


tidewater railroad company through the property of the Northern
Central railway company as herein provided, and to make the

tracks of said company and those of the Northern Central rail-


way company as far as practicable independent of each other, the

Grade.

said Western Maryland tidewater railroad company is hereby au-


thorized and empowered to lay its tracks under and across the


bed of Charles street south of Lanvale street; and the Northern


Central railway company is authorized to lay two tracks under


the bed of Charles street between the tracks of the Western Mary-


land tidewater railroad company and the present tracks of the


Northern Central railway company under said street; Charles


street to be carried over the tracks of both roads by suitable


bridges to be constructed and maintained by said companies re-


spectively, the tracks of both companies so authorized to be laid


under and across the bed of Charles street, not to be higher than


the level of the most northerly of the tracks now laid under and


across said street by the Northern Central railway company.


SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the said Western Mary-


land tidewater railroad company in the construction and opera-


tion of the railroad hereby authorized, shall have and use all the


rights and powers created by the provisions of article twenty-


three, of the Code of Public General Laws relating to railroad


companies, and may also exercise all the powers conferred upon

lights and

said company by the first, second and third sections of the act of

powers.

Maryland tidewater railroad company, to enlarge its powers and to


authorize it to make certain contracts with the Western Maryland

dred and eighty-four, to which this is a supplement, except in so


far as all of such powers above referred to may be limited with


reference to the property and rights of the Northern Central


railway company and the Union railroad company by the pro-


visions of this act.


SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the Western Maryland tide-


water railroad company be and it is hereby authorized to accept


a lease and become lessee of all or of any part of any railroad


owned or constructed or that may be hereafter owned or con-


structed under the laws of this State or of any other State; pro-


vided, that the railroad of which it may so become lessee, shall

be a road connecting with or in extension of the railroad of the


Western Maryland railroad company, or of one of its branches,


or connecting with or in extension of a railroad leased, owned or


operated by said Western Maryland railroad company, the lease


hereby authorized to be accepted may include any branch of the
