or transfer them to the custody, charge, care and

training of any corporate or other home asylum, or
|
|
|
|
other association authorized by law to receive such
|
|
|
|
children, and to retain or bind them out in this

State ; provided that all such acts of binding, plac-

ing or transferring shall be evidenced by an instru-
|
|
|
|
ment of writing, executed in duplicate, signed by
|
|
|
|
the president of the said Nursery and Child's Hos-
|

pital of Baltimore city, and by the person or corpor-
|
|
|
|
ation taking such child as apprentice or for adop-
|
|
|
|
tion, or for subsequent custody, care and rearing,
|
|
|
|
and by such signers acknowledged before any offi-
|
|
|
|
cer competent under the laws of this State to take
|
|
|
|
acknowledgment of deeds, at the proper cost and
|
|
|
|
charge of the party so taking, receiving or adopt-
|
|
|
|
ing ; and provided also, that the said Nursery and
|
|
|
|
Child's Hospital of Baltimore city shall keep a fair

record, in a suitable book, of ,the admission of all
|
|
|
|
children so received into its custody and care, in
|
|
|
|
which shall be stated the date of admission, the
|
|
|
|
name and age of the child at the time of admission,
|
|
|
|
the name of the person or justice by whom, or the
|
|
|
|
court by which, committed, and the name of the
|
|
|
|
nearest relatives of the child when known, to the
|
|
|
|
corporation or its officer charged with the admission
|
|
|
|
of inmates, and the name and address of any person
|
|
|
|
to whom, or institution to which, any child or children
|
|
|
|
may be committed by the said Nursery and Child's
|
|
|
|
Hospital of Baltimore city, and one copy of said in-
|
|
|
|
strument, so to be executed in duplicate, shall be re-

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the foundlings, in-
|
|
|
|
fants, orphans and other destitute children under the
|
|
|
|
care and control of the said corporation, the Nursery
|
|
|
|
and Child's Hospital of Baltimore city, shall be and

remain under the control and restraint, and under
|
|
|
|
the charge of the said corporation and of the offi-

obedience to its rules, regulations and discipline to

every effect as apprentices are bound in respect of

their masters and mistresses, and subject to all laws

rights of apprentices.
