chapter one hundred and fifty-five, passed at the


January session of the said General Assembly of


eighteen hundred and seventy-six," entitled "An act


for the better protection of birds and game in Wi-


comico county, be and the same is hereby repealed


and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as


follows :


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be unlaw-


ful for any person or persons in Wicomico county
to shoot, kill or in any way take, trap, catch or de-


stroy, at any time in said county, any of the birds


called or known as the mocking bird, blue bird,


swallow, martin, robin, cat-bird, woodpecker, spar-


row, wren, whippoorwill, dove, thrush, lark, killdeer,

red bird, bobalink, yellow bird, linnet, bat, night

shoot, kill, &c

hawk, branch-robin, gold-finch, sap-sucker, tomtit


or any other insectivorous bird, and each and every


person violating the provisions of this section shall


be fined two dollars for each and every bird proved


to have been shot, killed or in any way taken,


trapped, caught or destroyed by the person or per-


sons so offending.


SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be unlaw-


ful for any person or persons, in Wicomico county,


to shoot, kill, take, trap, or in any manner catch or


destroy in said county, in any year, any of the birds


or game within the different periods of time men-


tioned and specified in this section ; that is to say,


woodcock between the first day of January and the


first day of September ; plovers (or sand pipers),
partridges and quail, between the first day of Febru-


ary ana the first day of November; wood or sum-

mer ducks, between the first day of January and the

tenth day of September ; squirrels and rabbits, be-


tween the fifteenth day of February and the first day


of November; mink, otter and muskrat, between


the fifteenth day of March and fifteenth day of


December ; and each and every person violating the


provisions of this section shall be fined twenty dol-


lars for each and every woodcock, plover (or sand


piper), partridge, quail, duck, squirrel, rabbit, mink,


otter and muskrat, proved to have been shot, killed,


taken, trapped, caught or destroyed, by the person or


persons so offending.
