CHAPTER 471.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amend-
|
|
|
|
ments the seventh section of an act passed at
|
|
|
|
January session, eighteen hundred and seventy-
|
|
|
|
eight, chapter four hundred and forty-two, en-
|
|
|
|
titled " An act to give additional corporate powers
|
|
|
|
to the House of the Good Shepherd of the city
|
|
|
|
of Baltimore," and to provide for the commitment
|
|
|
|
thereto of dissolute and disorderly females for the
|
|
|
|
purpose of reformation.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
|
|
|
|
bly of Maryland, That the seventh section of
|
|
|
|
the act passed at January session, eighteen hun-
|
|
|
|
dred and seventy eight, chapter four hundred
and forty-two, entitled "An act to give additional
|

the commitment thereto of dissolute and disorderly
|
|
|
|
females, for the purpose of reformation, be and the
|
|
|
|
same is hereby .repealed, and that there be enacted
|
|
|
|
instead thereof the following, to be known as sec-
|
|
|
|
tion seven of the said act, that is to say :
|
|
|
|
SECTION 7. The Judge of the Criminal Court of
|
|
|
|
Baltimore city, or any judge of any circuit court for
|

any county, or any justice of the peace for any
|
rant.
|
|
|
county, upon information, that any female under the
|
|
|
|
age of twenty-one years, in their several counties,
|
|
|
|
or in the city of Baltimore, as the case may be, leads
|
|
|
|
a disorderly, dissolute course of life, may, upon ap-
|
|
|
|
plication of the parent or next friend of such fe-
|
|
|
|
male, issue a warrant or order, directed to the
|
|
|
|
sheriff, or to any constable or police officer in such
|
|
|
|
county or city, commanding him to bring the per-
|
|
|
|
son against whom the information is so given be-
|
|
|
|
fore said court or said justice, on any day to be
|
|
|
|
named therein, not more than one week from the

commit.

court or justice, upon proof of said charge, may
commit such female to the House of the Good
