any of the ordinances intended to secure the safety


of the livea or property of any of the inhabitants of


said town, the person or persons so convicted may,
in addition thereto, be committed to the Carroll


county jail, or to some place of confinement provid-


ed therefor, within the corporate limits of said town


of Union Bridge, by the said mayor or justice, until


the fine and costs are paid, but not exceeding ten


days for any one offence; and the mayor may, at any


time when it shall seem to him just and proper, dis-


charge the person so committed ; and if the person


so convicted, as aforesaid, shall be a minor, the same


proceedings, in every respect, for the collection of


fines shall be had against the parent or parents, or


guardian, or other person or persons in whose custody


or under whose control the said minor may be; and


any person convicted under the provisions of this act


or the laws and ordinances of the said town of Union


Bridge, shall have the right to appeal to the next


Circuit Court for Carroll county, upon giving bond


forthwith to prosecute said appeal or bail, for his or


her personal appearance at said court.


SEC. 27. And be it enacted. That the common


council shall, with the approval of the mayor, annu-

may by ordinance adopt for the benefit of the cor-

place in said town where they can be paid ; and may


distrain therefor at any time after sixty days from


the date they shall become due and payable ; and the
