for the purchase of more than one dose of such pro-


hibited liquors, as a medicine, at any one time ; and


any physician who shall, by collusion or otherwise,


violate the provisions of this section, shall, on con-


viction, be punished in the same manner and to the


same extent as the seller would have been had he


been found guilty of a violation of the same.


SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That on the first Tues-


day after the first Monday in November, eighteen

pointed in the usual manner to conduct the election


for members of congress, shall conduct the election


herein provided for, and shall receive tickets, written


or printed, from the legal voters of said county, on

shall be counted and returned as other ballots are


counted and returned, and the result shall be certi-


fied by said judges to the clerk of the circuit court


of the county aforesaid, whose duty it shall be to


proclaim the result by publication in one or more


newspapers in said county within thirty days after


the returns shall be received by him ; and the same


notice shall be given by the sheriff of said county of


this election as is required in the case of other elec-


tions ; and said election shall in all respects be sub-


ject to and be governed by the election Jaws of this


State, so far as they are applicable thereto.


SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That if at said election


as hereinbefore provided for a majority of the voters


in said county shall be "against license," then the


provisions of this act shall be and continue in force,


and in such case no license shall issue in said county


for the sale of any intoxicating liquors as defined

and prohibited in the first section of this act, on and


after the first day of May, eighteen hundred and


eighty-one; nor shall any intoxicating liquors be
sold in said county except as provided for in section


six of this act ; but if the result of said election shall


be in favor of licenses, then and in that case the same


shall issue as are now, or shall hereafter be allowed


by law.
