CHAPTER 317.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments
|
|
|
|
section two hundred and eighty-nine, article twen
|
|
|
|
ty-one, of the Code of Public Local Laws, titled
|
|
|
|
" Washington county," sub-titled " Sharpsburg,"
|
|
|
|
and to add an additional section to said article, to
|
|
|
|
be known as section two hundred and ninety-one
|
|
|
|
"A."
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section two hundred and eighty-
|
|
|
|
nine, article twenty-one of the Code of Public
|
|
|
|
Local Laws, titled " Washington county," sub-titled
" Sharpsburg," be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments, and an additional
|

section be and the same is hereby added to said

article, to be known as section two hundred and
|
|
|
|
ninety-one "A."
|
|
|
|
SEC. 289. Be it enacted, That they may lay an
equal tax on the property, real and personal, within
|
|
|
|
the town, to such amount as may from time to time
|
|
|
|
be deemed necessary for the purposes of the corpora-
tion, and may appoint a collector to collect the said
|
|
|
|
taxes, and the said collector shall have the same
|

power to distrain therefor as collectors of county

taxes, and shall, when he has collected the said
|
|
|
|
taxes, pay the same to the burgess and commission-
|
|
|
|
ers; and the said burgess and commissioners may
|
|
|
|
prescribe the term of office, responsibility and com-
|
|
|
|
pensation of the collector.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 291 A. Be it enacted, That the burgess and
|
|
|
|
commissioners are hereby authorized to rent or erect,
maintain and use a suitable building in said town
|
Rent lock-up.
|
|
|
for a lock-up, to which offenders and violators of the
|
|
|
|
ordinances of said town may be committed.
