CHAPTER 280.


AN ACT to refund Joseph L. Watson, of Charles


county, a sum of money paid by him into the


treasury as a fine on a forfeited recognizance.


WHEREAS Joseph L. Watson was surety on a re-


cognizance bond in the case of the State of Mary-


land versus John I. Deakens, at the November term


of the Circuit Court for Charles county, eighteen


hundred and seventy-five, and did bring the said


John I. Deakens to the said circuit court on the day


set for trial, and did use every reasonable exertion


to retain the said Deakens within the reach of the

Preamble

process of the said court, on the case being respited


from day to day, but the said Deakens escaped from


the custody of the said Watson and out of the juris-


diction of the said court, and a fine of one hundred


dollars was imposed upon the said Watson on the


forfeiture of the said bond, and paid by him to the


sheriff of Charles county ; therefore,


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assem-


bly of Maryland, That the Comptroller be and he


is hereby authorized and directed to issue his war-


rant upon the Treasurer for the payment of one


hundred dollars to the said Joseph L. Watson, that

in full settlement of the recognizance case above re-


ferred to, of the State of Maryland versus John I.


Deakens, and the same having been recommended


by the officers of the treasury as is required by the


constitution.
