	that upon any cause of action within the jurisdic-
	tion of a justice of the peace arising in said county,
	any resident of said county may be such before a
	justice of the peace in the election district wherein
	the contract was made, or such cause of action did
	originate.
	SEC. 2. And provided further that in any election district in said county wherein but one justice of the	Proviso.
	peace shall be appointed, then such justice may sue
	and be sued before a justice of the peace in an ad-
	joining election district in said county.

	CHAPTER 264.
	AN ACT to repeal section forty of chapter one hun-
	dred and eight of the Acts of Assembly passed at
	the January session of eighteen hundred and sev-
	enty-eight, entitled "An act to add an additional
	article to the Code of Public Local Laws, to be
	entitled Garrett county," and re-enact the same
	with amendments, making it a criminal offence to
	cut down timber maliciously or without the per-
	mission of the owner.
	SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assem-
	bly of Maryland, That section forty of chapter one
	hundred and eight of the Acts of Assembly passed
	at the January session of eighteen hundred and sev-	Repealed and
