CHAPTER 224.


AN ACT to pro vide for the leasing of certain wharf


property belonging to the State of Maryland.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-


bly of Maryland, That the Board of Public Works

Execute lease

of said State be and are hereby authorized in their


discretion, if they deem it expedient so to do, to ex-


ecute to Henry Williams, of Baltimore city, a lease


of the wharf in front of State Tobacco Warehouse,


number three, on Light street, in the city of Bal-


timore, for any period not exceeding ten years,


from the first day of May in the year eighteen hun-


dred and eighty, in consideration of an annual


rental for the same of not less than one thousand


dollars, to be paid by said Henry Williams to the


State of Maryland ; provided, however, that sail


vessels bringing tobacco to the State Tobacco Ware-


houses shall always have access to the south side

charges of wharfage on vessel or cargo, for the pur-
pose of unloading tobacco brought by them, and


provided further, that ample room shall always be


allowed on said wharf or pier, in like manner, free


from such charges, for the shipment of tobacco from


the State Tobacco Warehouses.


SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the


lease to be executed in pursuance of this act shall


be examined and approved by the attorney general
