	defray the proportion of cost of erecting said bridge
	hereinbefore directed, to be borne by said county
	commissioners of said counties respectively.
	SEC. 4. And le it further enacted, That before
	the said county commissioners of said respective
	counties shall proceed to exercise the powers vest-	First apply
	ed in them and required to be exercised by them	to owners of
	by this act, they shall first apply to Sweetser Linthi-	Donaldson's bridge.
	cum or others, the owner or owners of the former
	Donaldson's bridge, and request him, her or them
	to surrender to them, as county commissioners, as
	aforesaid, and without compensation therefor, all
	the powers, authorities, franchises and privileges
	vested in him, her or them, or claimed or pretended
	by him, her or them by virtue of any and all acts
	or act of Assembly heretofore passed authorizing
	the construction and erection of said Donaldson's
	bridge, and upon the said Linthicum, or other said
	owner or owners, as aforesaid, so surrendering all said powers, authorities, franchises and privileges to said	Upon surren- dering.
	county commissioners, as aforesaid, by a good and
	sufficient deed or deeds in that behalf, then the said
	county commissioners shall proceed, as aforesaid, to
	build the said bridge as hereinbefore directed ; but
	if the said Linthicum shall refuse or decline to make
	such surrender, as aforesaid, or shall not make the
	same surrender, as aforesaid, on or before the first
	day of June next, then the said respective county	.
	commissioners of said respective counties shall pro-
	ceed to build and erect the said bridge at some con-
	venient place or point near the place or point where
	said Donaldson's bridge formerly stood; and they are
	hereby authorized and directed to make such changes and alterations in Hammond's Ferry road, leading from Baltimore county to Anne Arundel county, in	Make change in Ham- mond's Ferry road
	said counties respectively, as may be necessary for
	the accommodation of public travel passing over
	said bridge to be so built by them, and they are
	hereby invested, in their respective counties, with
	such powers and authorities in this behalf as the
	county commissioners may exercise in respect of
	roads in their several counties and the alterations
	and changes thereof.
