of March and the thirtieth day of September, with the Comp-
troller, on oath, and pay over to the Treasurer all such moneys so
received; and twenty-five per cent, of such moneys so received,
the Treasurer shall pay over on warrant of the Comptroller,
semi-annually, to the Commissioner of the Land Office.

15. He is authorized and empowered to continue the indexing
of certain land records and extracts of deeds which were trans-
ferred to the land office from the Court of Appeals under the
said act of eighteen hundred and seventy-four, chapter sixty-six,
and such extracts of deeds and mortgages of real estate as shall
be received by him from the clerks of the circuit courts for the
counties and the clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore City;
and the Comptroller is directed to issue his warrant for such sum
or sums of money as may from time to time be necessary to meet
the cost (not including clerical labor of such indexing) upon the
certificate of the correctness of the same given by the Commis-
sioner of the Land Office.

ARTICLE LV.

LIBRARIAN—STATE.

16. Indexer and cataloguer; his appointment, salary, duties.

16. The Governor, by and with the advice of the library com-
mittee created by section 12 of this article, is authorized and
empowered to appoint a person as indexer and cataloguer of the
State library, who shall hold his office for the period of two
years, or until his successor is duly appointed and qualified, and
who shall receive a salary of six hundred dollars per annum,
payable in monthly instalments by warrant of the Comptroller
upon the Treasurer. It shall be the duty of the said indexer and
cataloguer to attend daily at the State library on each day that
the same is open and there continue the work of indexing and
card cataloguing under the system now adopted and carried on
