980 DORCHESTER COUNTY. [ART. 10

to require, or any other persons that he may see fit; and upon the
failure of said officer or other person to appear or to produce the
records demanded when thereunto duly summoned, it shall be the
duty of the auditor to report such contumacy to the said judges,
who shall thereupon cause said delinquent to be attached by the
sheriff of the county and brought before them, and unless good
cause to the contrary be shown, shall punish him as in other cases
of contempt of court, by fine and imprisonment in the county
jail, until purged of contempt; and shall make such further pro-
visions for expediting the duties of the auditor by securing to him
the inspection of said records, and due performance of said duties
under this sub-title of this article, as the circumstances of the case
may seem to require.

31. Said auditor shall annually receive the sum of fifty dollars
for his services in the premises; and such compensation and all
expenses of summons, publication, &c., shall be annually levied
and paid by the county commissioners; provided, that no auditor
shall be entitled to or shall receive any compensation until he
shall actually have made, published and reported his annual audit

as aforesaid.

32. The said judges, upon said auditor's report being made to
them, shall proceed to examine and confirm or remand the same
within two months after its being filed in their clerk's office and
published as aforesaid; provided, that exceptions to the approval
and confirmation of such report may be taken by any citizen of
said county interested therein, within said month, and the same
shall be heard and determined as exceptions to any other auditor's
report are now heard and determined by law; and provided
further, that when such report shall have finally been passed
upon, either with or without exceptions being taken, the same
shall be held as conclusive, and be pleadable in bar of any further
or other action in the premises.

or shoot, or in any manner wound or kill any mocking birds in
