ART. 9.] ALMSHOUSE. 915

P. L. L., (I860,) art. 9, sec 9.

9. They shall purchase and provide all beds, bedding, house-
hold and kitchen furniture, stock and farming utensils necessary
for the furnishing and support of said almshouse and the land
thereto belonging.

10. They shall meet at the almshouse four times in the year,
to wit: In the first week in February, May, August and Novem-
ber, or oftener if necessary, to make, by a majority of votes of
such as may be present, such rules and by-laws as they may think
convenient and necessary for the direction, government and
support of the almshouse and maintenance and employment of all
poor persons therein, and of all vagrants, beggars, vagabonds and
other offenders that may be committed thereto.

11. They shall keep a regular account of all monies expended
"by them, and return a true copy thereof, with the vouchers
therefor, to the county commissioners, at their meeting for making
the county levy.

12. The overseer shall keep a regular list of all poor, beggars,
vagrants, vagabonds and other offenders committed to said
almshouse.

13. He shall also keep a regular account of all things which
may come to his hands as overseer, and of all money expended
by him, and lay it before the trustees at their regular meetings,
or oftener if required.

14. He may compel any of the inmates of said almshouse, if
of sufficient ability, to work, and shall account for the produce of
their labor.

15. Upon complaint being made to any justice of the peace,
and upon his being satisfied, upon hearing the party, that the
