221. He shall be allowed fifty cents each time for ironing or
unironing a prisoner, as often as it may be necessary to do so.

222. He may charge and receive from all officers and attor-
neys who may place fees in his hands for collection a commission
of eight per cent, on the amount collected.
STALLIONS.

223. The owner of any stallion may enter into a contract with
the owner of any mare, pledging the progeny of such mare by
such stallion for the amount of the service money of such stal-
lion ; such contract shall be in writing, signed by the respective
parties thereto, and attested by at least one witness, and shall be
recorded in the office of the clerk of the county wherein such
mare is situated, among the records of bills of sale, within twenty
days after its date; and from and after the date of the record
thereof, and for the space of one year from the date of the foal-
ing of such progeny, the owner of said stallion shall have a lien
upon said progeny for the amount of the service money afore-
said ; and if the said owner of said mare, without the consent of
the owner of said stallion first had and obtained in writing, shall
remove such mare or foal out of the county where said contract
is recorded, or shall secrete, destroy or sell the same, he shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon indictment therefor
and conviction thereof, shall be fined or imprisoned, or both, in
the same manner and to the same extent as provided for offenders
against the provisions of section 111 of article 27 of the code of
public general laws, title " Crimes and Punishments." This sec-
tion shall apply only to the counties of Caroline, St Mary's,
Wicomico, Worcester and Anne Arundel.

224. If said service money shall not be paid, the owner of
said stallion, upon applying to some justice of the peace of the
State, in and for the county in which the owner of said progeny
resides, and swearing to the correctness of his claim, shall have
