672 CAROLINE COUNTY. [ART. 6

before entering upon the duties of his office, he shall make oath
before a justice of the peace for Caroline county, that he will
faithfully and impartially perform the duties imposed upon him
by this sub-title of this article and the by-laws and ordinances of
the said commissioners; and shall execute to the State of Mary-
land a bond, with two good and sufficient sureties, to be ap-
proved by the commissioners of said village, in such penalty as-
they shall prescribe, conditioned that he shall well and faithfully
perform the duties of said office, in all things appertaining there-
to, according to law, and shall well and truly collect and pay over
to the treasurer of said village, all taxes levied by the said com-
missioners, and all other sums of money that may be received by
him for the use of said corporation.

161. The treasurer shall be appointed from among the citi-
zens of said village qualified to vote for commissioners, and be-
fore entering upon the duties of his office he shall give bond to-
the State of Maryland, with two good and sufficient sureties, to
be approved by the said commissioners, in such penalty as the
said commissioners shall prescribe, conditioned that he shall well
and faithfully account for all monies paid over to him by the
bailiff of said village, or that may be received by him from any
other person, for the use of said village; and shall well and truly
pay over said monies to his successor in office, or to the order of
the commissioners of said village, signed by their clerk and counter-
signed by their president, and perform all other duties of his office
according to law; he shall keep full and correct accounts of all
monies received by him, with the sources from which the same
were received and the dates of such receipt, and of the disburse-
ments made by him, with the dates thereof, and the persons to
whom and on what account the same were made.

of said village entitled to vote for commissioners of said village,
and before they shall proceed to act as such they shall take an
oath before a justice of the peace for Caroline county, that they
will assess and value all the property of every sort within said
