all the fines and forfeitures received for the violation of the town
ordinances, and no more. The said bailiff shall enforce the ordi-
nances of said town, and in the execution of the duties of his
office shall have all and the same powers that a constable has in
criminal cases. On entering upon the duties of his office he
shall make oath before one of the said commissioners that he will
faithfully and impartially execute the duties of his office accord-
ing to the best of his skill and judgment, without favor or preju-
dice, and shall also give bond to the State of Maryland in such
penalty as the commissioners may direct, and with sureties to be
approved by them, for the faithful performance of his duties as
bailiff; and the said bond shall be recorded in the office of the
clerk of the circuit court for Worcester county.

75. They may pass all ordinances, not contrary to law, neces-
sary to give effect and operation to the powers vested in them.

be immediately made public by printed handbills posted in not
less than six conspicuous places in said town.

77. It shall not be lawful for any person, or any house, com-
pany or association, or body corporate, to sell, directly or indi-
rectly, at any place, or to give away at his or their place of
business, any spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or
alcoholic bitters, or intoxicating drinks of any kind, within the
limits of said town of Bishopville, as bounded by section 61.

78. If any person, house, company, association or body corpo-
rate shall sell, directly or indirectly, at any place, or give away at
his or their place of business, any spirituous, fermented or intoxi-
cating liquors or alcoholic bitters, or intoxicating drinks of any
kind, within the limits of the said town of Bishopville, as bounded
by section 61, he or they shall, on conviction thereof, be fined
not less than one hundred dollars nor more than two hundred
dollars, and be imprisoned in the county jail ten days for each
offence.
