health of the neighborhood, it shall be the duty of the county
commissioners to examine the same, and have made such repairs
in the grading, paving and draining of such alley, by-way or
highway as may be necessary, taxing the property binding
thereon one-half the cost of said improvements.

1884, ch. 512.

131. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep a hog-pen
or pig-pen within fifty feet of any dwelling-house, well or spring,
the water of which may be used for drinking or cooking pur-
poses, in Canton, Catonsville, Towson, and their vicinities, under
a penalty of not less than ten dollars; and the said sanitary offi-
cers shall immediately remove the same.

132. All such fines and penalties shall be collected before a
justice of the peace of Baltimore county in the manner prescribed,
by section 118.

HORSE RAILWAYS.

1888, ch. 457.

133. All suburban or county horse railways in Baltimore
county now in existence, or which may hereafter be incor-
porated in said county, are allowed and authorized to use the
Roberts Noiseless Steam Motor as a motive power on any of
their said railways; provided, that the said motive power used in
propelling the cars operated on said railways shall not discharge
or exhaust any smoke or steam into the open air.

134. The county commissioners shall levy annually, such sum
of money as they may deem sufficient to pay the expenses and
charges for the succeeding year, for the attendance of jurors
summoned to the circuit court for the county.
