the middle of north Potomac street; thence along the middle of
north Potomac street, southward to the place of beginning. For
ward number two: beginning in the centre of the public square
and running thence westwardly with the south lines of ward
number one to the western boundary of the town; thence south-
ward, and with the boundary line of the town, to the middle of
the turnpike road leading to Sharpsburg; thence along the mid-
dle of said turnpike and the middle of south Potomac street to
the place of beginning. For ward number three: beginning in
the middle of the public square and running southward through
the middle of south Potomac street and through the middle of
the Sharpsburg turnpike to the southern boundary of the town;
thence with the said boundary of the town eastward and north-
ward, to intersect a straight line drawn along the middle of
Valentine street; thence westward along said line to the middle
of Jackson lane; thence southward to the middle of east Frank-
lin street; thence southward two hundred and seventy-six feet to
an alley; thence along the middle of said alley to the alley run-
ning from east Washington street to east Franklin street, in the
rear of the market-house property; thence northward along the
alley to the middle of east Franklin street; thence westward
along east Franklin street to the middle of north Potomac street;
thence along the middle of north Potomac street southward to
the place of beginning. For ward number four; beginning at
the intersection of the middle of north Potomac street with the
middle of Franklin street, and running thence northward along
the middle of north Potomac street to the north margin of the
Western Maryland railroad; thence with the north margin of
said railroad, and with the north boundary line of the town, east-
ward and southward, to intersect a straight line drawn along the
middle of Valentine street; thence along the northern boundary
line of ward number three to the place of beginning. For ward
number five: beginning at the intersection of the middle of north
Potomac street with the middle of Franklin street, and running
thence northward along the middle of north Potomac street to
the north margin of the Western Maryland railroad; thence
along the said north margin of said railroad and the boundary line
of the town westward and southward to the north boundary line
of ward number one; thence along the north boundary line of
ward number one to the place of beginning.
