roads; and for neglect of duty shall be liable to be proceeded
against, fined and punished as supervisors of roads in said county ;
and the bailiff shall keep the lanes, streets and alleys in repair,
under the control and direction of the commissioners.

83. The commissioners may establish and provide a market
house in the town for the use and convenience of the inhabitants,
thereof, and may, by by-laws and ordinances, provide for and
regulate the sale of all provisions brought to said town for sale,
the trying and adjusting of the scales, weights and measures used
at the market by the standards of the county, and the seizure and
sale to the highest bidder, of any found false or untrue; the rent-
ing of the stalls and shambles of the market, and for the seizure
and sale, for the use of the commissioners, of all butter in prints
or parcels brought to the said market for sale, found wanting in
weight, or unsound or unwholesome.

84. The bailiff shall have charge of ana supervision over the
market-house and markets therein, under the direction and control
of the commissioners.

85. If any person shall feel aggrieved by any seizure made by
any bailiff, he may, within three days after such seizure, appeal
to the commissioners, or any one of them, who shall make such
order therein as they or he may deem just.

86. The rent of the stalls and shambles of the market-house:
may be recovered in the name of the commissioners before a jus-
tice of the peace, as small debts are recovered.

87. The commissioners may provide by by-laws and ordi-
nances for preventing swine from being raised within the limits
of said town, except in pens or enclosures, and for keeping the
same free from bad odors and filth; and may in like manner
