44. It shall be lawful for him to administer the oaths, and
take the probates of all public accounts presented to said com-
missioners for allowance, in the same manner, and to the same
effect and extent as probates are now made before justices of the
peace.

45. He shall be entitled to twenty-five cents each for making
out and delivering to the sheriff of said county, certificates of the
appointment of trustees of the poor.

46. The county commissioners may issue a summons directed
to the sheriff of said county, for any person in said county to ap-
pear before them and testify in any matter of which they may
require information; and the sheriff shall execute and return such
summons according to its tenor.

47. The clerk of the circuit court shall, annually, on or before
the first Monday in April, furnish to and lay before said commis-
sioners, copies of all such lists, accounts, papers and documents
as may be useful and necessary to them in ascertaining the county
charges, according to the directions he may from time to time
receive from them; and on failure or refusal to comply herewith
when required by eaid commissioners, or their clerk by their order,
he shall forfeit to them, for the use of the county the sum of one
hundred dollars, to be recovered by indictment in the circuit
court for said county.

48. Whenever they shall elect or designate one of their num-
ber as treasurer, it shall be the duty of said treasurer, before as-
suming any of the duties of his said office, to present his bond to
the State of Maryland, in the penalty of at least ten thousand
dollars, conditioned for the faithful performance of all the duties
imposed upon him as said treasurer, according to law, which said
bond shall be approved by the clerk of the circuit court for Somer-
set county, and when so approved shall be filed with and recorded
among the land records of said county.
