1752 ST. MARY'S COUNTY. [ART. 19.

by the commissioners, in such penalty as they shall fix, condi-
tioned for the faithful performance of his duty as treasurer; and
he shall receive and pay moneys according to the ordinances
passed by the said corporation.

76. All fines and forfeitures imposed by the said commission-
ers, by virtue of any law or ordinance, shall be applied in such
manner, for the use of said village, as may from time to time be
directed by ordinance.

their services.

78. The said corporation shall not issue any device, token,
note, certificate or evidence of debt, to be used as currency.

and if sued therefor may plead the general issue and give the
special matter in evidence.

80. The master, owner, miller or manager of any horsemill or
windmill in said county, may take and receive for grinding any
quantity of corn or rye, the sixth part thereof.

81. Any person such as is described in the preceding section,
who shall take or demand any greater toll than is therein pre-
scribed, shall for every offence forfeit twenty dollars, to be re-
covered before any justice of the peace by action of debt, one-half
to the State and the other half to the informer.
