net proceeds of sale, after paying the charges aforesaid, shall be
paid over to the captors, to be equally divided between them,
and the remaining one-half thereof to be paid to the school com-
missioners of said county, for the purposes above named.

52. The county commissioners, from time to time, shall estab-
lish and regulate the rates of all public inns and taverns in said

53. There shall be the following number of justices of the
peace and constables for St. Mary's county, to wit: for election
district number one, three justices of the peace and two consta-
bles ; for election district number two, two justices of the peace
and two constables; for election district number three, four jus-
tices of the peace and three constables; for election district num-
ber four, four justices of the peace and two constables; for elec-
tion district number five, three justices of the peace and two
constables; for election district number six, three justices of the
peace and two constables; for election district number seven, two
justices of the peace and two constables; for election district
number eight, two justices of the peace and two constables; and
for election district number nine, one justice of the peace and
one constable.

54. The several justices of the peace of St. Mary's, Dor-
chester, Montgomery, Prince George's, Somerset, Talbot, Howard,
Caroline, Kent, Charles, Calvert, Harford, Garrett, Washington,
Wicomico, Anne Arundel and Allegany counties, shall have, in ad-
dition to the jurisdiction which they now possess, and which may
be conferred upon them by or under the laws of this State, juris-
diction concurrent with that exercised by the circuit courts for
said counties in all cases of assault without any felonious intent;
and in all cases of assault and battery, and in all cases of petit
