of the provisions of sections 272, 273 or 275, shall be authorized
and empowered,-and it is made his or their duty to arrest and take,
into custody such person as aforesaid offending, and the boatman
or other persons found in said boats, vessels or other craft em-
ployed to carry such offender, for the purpose of shooting at wild
fowl, contrary to the provisions of said three sections; and also to.
take in possession the boat, vessel or other craft so as aforesaid
used in said violation thereof, together with the guns,, ammunition-
and other traps and furniture found on board said boat, vessel or
craft.

277. The said officer shall carry the person so arrested before
some justice of the peace of Queen Anne's county, representing
to the said justice the breach of the law committed; and the said
justice shall inquire fully into the alleged offence, of which the
finding of vessels, boats, floats, canoes, launches, tugs or crafts
employed as aforesaid, or in the possession or use of the persona
charged, shall be considered prima, facie evidence of guilt.

278. The discharge of any gun, rifle or other kind of fire-arm
from any vessel, boat, float, canoe, launch, tug or other craft, shall
be deemed prima facie to be done in violation of the provisions,
of sections 272 and 273.

279. If on trial before said justice of the peace such person,
so as aforesaid arrested and brought before him for trial, shall be
found guilty, the said justice shall enter his verdict accordingly,
and he shall render a judgment against said person for not less
than one hundred and fifty dollars and not more than three hun-
dred dollars against each person engaged, directly or indirectly
in such violation, for each offence, and he may commit him to
the county jail in the event of the non-payment of said fine, for a
period not exceeding ten days; to be discharged, however, on
the payment of the fine within that time.
