the sum allowed by law as an appearance fee, may allow to the
State's attorney for said county such compensation, in each case
by way of trial fee, as they may think just and proper, to be
levied by the county commissioners.

255. For the services rendered by the State's attorney before
committing justices, in preliminary examination in cases in
which the judges may deem his presence advisable, they may
allow to him such compensation, not exceeding the sum of ten
dollars in any one case, as they shall think just and proper.

256. On or before the fifteenth day of June in each year, the
State's attorney shall make up and present to said court, for
their inspection and approval, his account for services rendered
during the fiscal year past, which account, when approved by
them, shall be filed with the county commissioners for levy.

257. The county commissioners shall, on or before the third
Tuesday in April in each year, or as soon thereafter as may be,
let out the collection of State and county taxes of said county,
levied or to be levied for the current year, to the lowest bidder
therefor, having, in their judgment, good business qualifications
for said office of collector; provided, that no bid be received
otherwise than by a per centum on the amount of collections, and
not to exceed five per centum of the collections.

258. Anyone bidding for the collection of said taxes may put
in a bid for one or more of the several election districts of said
county; provided, however, that the second and sixth districts of
said county shall be considered as one collection district, and no
bid shall be received for said second and sixth districts except for
the two united.
