3. Any one commissioner may direct the admission of any
person to said almshouse.

4. They shall annually, in the month of March, appoint a fit
person to be overseer of the poor, who shall have charge and
custody of the lands, goods and chattels purchased for the use of
the poor of the county, and shall take care of said poor, and
perform all the duties which may be required of him in relation
to them, and the property appropriated to their use.

5. Before acting as such he shall give bond to the State of
Maryland in the penalty of two thousand dollars, with security
approved by the county commissioners, and with condition that
he shall well and faithfully perform the duties of overseer of the
poor of said county, and shall well and faithfully account for all
property, money, goods and chattels, which may come to his
hands or possession, as such overseer.

6. They may remove such overseer at pleasure, and appoint
another in his place.

7. They shall allow him such annual compensation for his
services as they may think proper, not exceeding three hundred
dollars per annum, exclusive of the board of himself and family.

8. They, or the overseer under their direction, shall keep an
account of all articles sold and purchased by them or him on
their account, stating therein the articles sold and the price
received, the articles purchased, the price paid or to be paid, and
from whom purchased, and the same shall be verified by the oath
of the overseer, and a copy thereof shall be set up at the place of
holding elections in each election district of the county.
