of eight hundred dollars in any year.

214. It shall be lawful to kill any dog seen running sheep in
Garrett county; and owners of dogs known to worry sheep shall
be liable for all sheep killed or injured by them, if after notice of
such vicious propensity they fail to kill said dogs; and any person
seeing such dogs running at large may lawfully kill the same.

215. The sheriff of Garrett county shall be allowed for con-
veying persons under sentence from said county to any State
institution the actual and necessary traveling expenses of said
persons, and the actual and necessary traveling expenses of him-
self, to and from such institution, and also ten dollars a day as
compensation for such service, but said sheriff shall not be allowed
more than two days' compensation for any one trip to such insti-
tution. Said expenses and compensation shall be levied and paid
as other county charges are paid.

216. The State's attorney shall not receive any appearance
fee in cases of recognizance, except when the same are traversed;
nor shall said State's attorney receive any fee or compensation in
any case until the same has been finally disposed of by judgment
or otherwise.

217. He shall receive the sum of fifteen dollars in each and
every case which he shall prosecute for the State by indictment
or presentment and trial, either before the court or a jury; and
said sum shall be in addition to the appearance fee as now fixed
by law.
