the collector appointed by them, who shall have the same power
to distrain therefor as. the collector of the public county taxes has
to distrain for such county taxes; and the president and commis-
sioners shall fix the term of office, amount of bond and compensa-
tion of such collector.

1884, ch. 97.

120. They shall have full power and authority, annually, to

appoint a bailiff, whose duty it shall be to preserve the peace and
good order of said town, and for this purpose he is vested with
the same power and authority as constables have under the laws
of this State.

121. The said corporation shall not issue any device, token,
note, certificate or evidence of debt, to be used as a currency.

HOOP POLES AND TIMBER.

1830, ch. 264.

123. If any person shall knowingly enter upon the land of
another and cut down, without his permission, or cause or induce
any person to enter upon the land of another and cut down
without his permission, with intent to appropriate to his own use,

any timber or tree of a size not less than those commonly used
for hoop poles, he and his aiders and abettors shall be adjudged
guilty of felony, and shall be sentenced as for feloniously stealing
goods or chattels to the value of the trees which shall be so cut
down.

124. The jurors of Garrett county shall receive each two

dollars and fifty cents for each day they attend the circuit court,
and when they reside more than five miles from Oakland they
