entitled to receive from the county commissioners the following
sums of money, viz: For every hawk or owl so killed, shot or
destroyed, the sum of thirty cents, and for every weasel, the sum
of twenty-five cents.

19. The person so killing, shooting or destroying any such
hawk, owl or weasel, in order to get the benefit of the preceding
section, shall take said hawk, owl or weasel, " or the head thereof,
before some justice of the peace of said county as evidence of
such killing or destroying, and shall make oath that the same was
bona fide killed or destroyed in said county, and said justice of
the peace shall thereupon burn said head, so that the same
cannot be used again, and shall give the party producing the
same a certificate that such head had been produced before and
destroyed by him, and that the party producing the same had
made such affidavit, and shall receive from such person for such
service, the sum of fifteen cents for every case in which there
shall be included five scalps or less in one certificate, and two
cents additional for every scalp over five contained therein.

20. The treasurer of said county, upon presentation of such
certificate, shall pay to the party holding the same, the sum of
thirty cents for every hawk or owl, and the sum of twenty-five
cents for every weasel specified therein as having been produced
before said justice, and sworn to have been bona fide killed or
destroyed in said county as aforesaid.

21. The county commissioners, in making their annual levy
in each year, shall levy in the hands of said treasurer a contin-
gent fund to meet the payments required to be made by him
under the last preceding section, and if at the end of the year
such sum shall prove to be insufficient, they shall levy such
additional sum therefor as may be necessary.

22. If the treasurer shall for any reason refuse to pay the said
sums upon presentation of such certificates of said justices, then
