1142 FREDERICK COUXTY. [ART. 11

P. L. L., (1860,) art. 11, sec. 107.

187. He may call upon any officer of the city intrusted with
the receipt and expenditure of public money for a statement of
his accounts as often as he or the corporation may conceive it
necessary.

188. He shall see that the ordinances are duly and faithfully
executed, and shall report annually to the corporation during the
first five days of their session the general state of the city, with
an accurate account of the money received and expended.

1872, ch. 187.

189. The register shall annually publish in two newspapers of
said city, one of which shall be of opposite politics to the other,
a full and particular statement of all receipts and disbursements,
the salaries and per diem of all officers of the corporation, and
all extra allowances that may have been made to any officer of
the corporation, and the service or considerations of such extra
allowances.

190. The aldermen may pass all laws and ordinances necessary
to preserve the health of the city; prevent and remove nuisances;
to prevent the introduction of contagious diseases within the
city and within three miles thereof; to establish night watches
and patrols, and erect lamps; to establish new streets, lanes and
alleys, with the consent of a majority of the proprietors of the
lots or houses adjoining such streets, lanes or alleys; to erect and
repair bridges; to pave and keep in repair all necessary drains
and sewers, and to pass all necessary regulations for the preserva-
tion of the same.

191. They may pass ordinances to regulate and fix the assize
of bread; to provide for the appointment and define the duties
of market masters, gaugers, wood corders, hay weighers and in-
spectors, and to provide for the safe keeping and preservation of
the standards of weights and measures, and for the regulating
thereby all weights and measures used in said town.
