bles in criminal cases; the said bailiff, before entering

upon the duties of his office, shall make oath before
one of the said commissioners that he will faithfully
and impartially execute the duties of his office, accord-
ing to the best of his skill and judgment, without favor

Bond.

or prejudice, and shall also give bond to the state of
Maryland in such penalty as the said commissioners
may direct, and with sureties to be by them approved,
for the faithful performance of his duties as bailiff, and
for the payment to the said commissioners or their
agent, of all fines and other moneys received or col-
lected by him in said capacity, and the said bond shall
be recorded in the office of the clerk of the circuit court
for Worcester county.

Commission-
ers' duties
public lamps.
|
147. The said commissioners shall erect lamps and
lamp-posts at such places in said town as they may
think proper, and shall provide for lighting said lamps,
as well as those already erected.

Fire engine.
|
Sub-Sec. 1. The said commissioners may purchase a
fire engine for the use of said town, by and with the
consent of a majority of the legal voters of said town,
to be ascertained by an election to be called by the
said commissioners for that special purpose, of which
notice shall be given by public notices and by inser-
tion for at least two weeks before said election in a
newspaper printed in said town.

Limits may be
extended.

Sub-Sec. 2. The said commissioners shall have power
to extend or otherwise change the limits of said town
whenever they shall deem it expedient.

Power to pass
ordinances
|
Sub-Sec. 3. The said commissioners may pass all
ordinances necessary to give effect and operation to
the powers vested in them.

Ordinances to
be published.
|
Sub-Sec. 4. All ordinances enacted by the said com-
missioners shall be immediately made public, either
through some newspaper printed in Snow Hill or by
printed handbills posted in not less than five conspi-
cuous places in said town.
