JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.
See public local laws, Article II, Anne Arundel county, sub-title justices of the
peace, for the act of 1870, c. 434, to extend the jurisdiction of justices of the peace in
Kent and other counties to cases of assault and battery.
ROADS.
1870, c. 178 enacts: That the county commissioners of Kent county are author-
ized and empowered to enlarge and widen the public road running through the vil-
lage known as Massey's Cross Roods in said county, and to enlarge the same twenty,
five feet on either side in addition to the present width, and their mode of proceeding
shall be according to the provisions of the twenty-eighth article of the code of public
general laws of the state, prescribing the mode of opening, altering and closing public
roads in this state.

STATE'S ATTORNEY.
1870, c. 261 entitled an act to regulate the trial fees of the state's attorney for Kent
county, adds the following:

SEC. 221. In all criminal cases which may be tried
in the circuit court for Kent county, the judges of said
court may, in addition to the sum allowed by law as an
appearance fee, allow to the state's attorney for said
county such compensation in each case by way of trial
fee as the said judges may think just and proper, to be
levied by the county commissioners.
