ART. 6. ] CAROLINE COUNTY.

for commissioner of said village, the judges of the said
election shall, after having given five days notice of the
time and place, proceed to hold another election to fill
up said board of commissioners, and the person or per-
sons receiving the highest number of votes at said elec-
tion shall,. with those previously chosen, if any, consti-
tute the commissioners of Greensborough for the year
ensuing.

106. Every commissioner, before he proceeds to act
as such, shall make oath before some justice of the
peace for Caroline county, that he will diligently and
faithfully, according to the best of his skill and judg-
ment, perform the duties of commissioner without favor,
partiality or prejudice, and a certificate of such quali-
fication shall be returned by the said justice to the com-
missioners, to be filed and recorded among their pro-
ceedings.

107. The said commissioners shall meet at such place
as they may appoint within said village, on the second
Monday of every month ensuing their election, and as
much oftener by adjournment as they shall deem neces-
sary.

108. The said commissioners shall, at their first
meeting after their election, elect a president of their
board, and appoint a clerk, a bailiff, a treasurer, and
two assessors of taxes, whose duties and qualifications
shall be as hereinafter prescribed.

109. The president of said board of commissioners
shall preside at all meetings of the commissioners un-
less prevented by sickness or other reasonable cause, in
which event the said commissioners may select a presi-
dent pro tempore; he shall sign and cause to be pro-
mulgated all by-laws and ordinances of said board of
commissioners, and shall countersign all orders and
drafts drawn by the clerk, under the direction of the
said commissioners, on the treasurer of said village.
