be raised by a direct tax on the assessable property in
said village.

73. All persons holding offices under the present
corporation of said village, and all persons elected or
appointed under the provisions of this article, shall
hold such offices until their successors shall have been
elected or appointed and qualified.

ELECTIONS.

1870, c. 54 repeals section 79 and enacts the following in lieu thereof:

79. Caroline county is divided into five election dis-
tricts, to be known respectively as district No. one,
or Henderson's district; district No. two, or Greens-
borough district; district No. three, or Denton district;
district No. four, or Harmony district, and district No.
five, or Federalsburg district. District No. one, or
Henderson district, shall consist of the upper portion
of what has heretofore been known as district No. one,
or the upper district of Caroline county; to begin for
the boundaries thereof at the crossing by the public
road of Long Marsh Branch, the dividing line between
Caroline and Queen Anne's counties, and thence with
said public road to Hollingsworth's corner, thence with
the public road to Gens' shop, thence with the public
road to Old Town branch, thence with the public road
to Anthony's mill, thence with the shortest line to
Choptank river, thence with the river to the Dela-
ware line, and thence with the boundaries of Caroline
county to the place of beginning. District No. two, or
Greensborough district, shall consist of the remaining
portion of what has been heretofore known as district
No. one, or the upper district of Caroline county. Dis-
trict No. three, or Denton district, shall consist of what
has heretofore been known as district No. two, of Caro-
line county. District No. four, or Harmony district, of
what has heretofore been known as district No. three,
