BALTIMORE COUNTY. [ART. 3.

enabling act to legalize and make valid the acts of the
boards of the road supervisors for Baltimore county,
acting under the road law of eighteen hundred and
sixty-eight, excepting so far as the enabling act referred
to authorizes the act of eighteen hundred and sixty-
eight, to continue in force in the first election district of
Baltimore county until the first day of March, eighteen
hundred and seventy-two, chapter four hundred and
eleven, passed and approved March thirtieth, eighteen
hundred and sixty-eight; [Sic. ] the said enabling act,
passed at the January session, eighteen hundred and
seventy, is declared to be for the purpose of enabling
the said road supervisors named therein to close up,
collect, adjust and settle all debts incurred by them.

pended.

235. The county commissioners of Baltimore county
shall not expend any of the moneys levied for road
and bridge purposes under this act in the first election
district of Baltimore county during the time the said
first election district is exempt from the provisions of
this act.

Approved and in force April 4, 1370.

1870, c. 99 entitled an act to lay off streets in Baltimore county, adjoining Baltimore
city, and to repeal certain acts inconsistent therewith, repeals 1868, c. 411, 1852,
c. 171 and sections 155, 156 and 157 of this article, and enacts the following:

236. The county commissioners of Baltimore county
shall appoint three persons, to be called and styled
street commissioners, to be appointed immediately after
the passage of this act, to hold their office during the
term of one year, and to be appointed annually there-
after, and the said street commissioners shall reside in

Baltimore county, and they shall cause to be surveyed
and laid off by a competent surveyor, and such other
assistants as may be necessary, on such terms as may
be agreed upon by the county commissioners, all that
part of Baltimore county adjoining the line of the city
of Baltimore not exceeding the distance of two miles
from said city line and not less than one mile, in the dis-
cretion of said street commissioners, and the said street
commissioners shall lay out upon the whole ground
