to an extent beyond that contemplated by the board of
supervisors, they may make application to the county
commissioners, who shall direct the board of the super-
visors of the district in which such road is situated, to
meet upon the premises and examine the location and
the purposes set forth in said application, and if they
shall judge, that the public interest will be promoted
thereby, they shall direct the county commissioners to
pay towards such improvement "an amount not ex-
ceeding two hundred dollars per mile, to be paid upon

completion of said improvement; provided, the parties
desiring to make said improvement, shall first sub-
scribe an amount double that to be paid by the county
commissioners, " all the work of said improvement shall
be under the direction and control of the supervisors.
Whenever any doubt may exist as to the proper loca-
tion or width of any road, the supervisors may cause
the same to be surveyed, and in their discretion, make
such alterations as the convenience of the public may
require, and any person feeling aggrieved at their ac-
tion, shall have the right of appeal as herein provided.

feet in width, and it shall be the duty of the super-
visors to provide suitable bounding stones, and have
them securely planted at such points as they may deem

in any of the duties of their office, which shall be paid
out of the special road fund of their respective districts,

county commissioners, and whenever twenty or more
taxable inhabitants of Baltimore county shall desire
the building or re-building of any bridge, they may
