pistols, squibs, or any kind of firearms or fireworks
in said town, to suppress and abate all nuisances, to
prevent swine, geese, cattle, or horses from going at
large, to prevent any immoderate driving through
the streets, with carriage, stage, cart, wagon or other
vehicle, or on horse-back, so as to endanger the lives,
limbs or property of the citizens of said town, or dis-
turb the quiet enjoyment of the streets and thorough-
fares, to prevent the parading and indecent exhibi-
tion of any stallion or jack through the streets; and
may impose a fine of not exceeding ten dollars for
any offence, on any person violating said ordinances.

Limits of town.

57. The said president and commissioners shall
have power to establish the limits of said town, to
remove obstructions from the streets of the same,
and establish the width of the streets, lanes and
alleys; they may, with the consent, of two-thirds of
the owners of the property through which they may

pass, open new streets, lanes and alleys, and they
are hereby required to open Market street in said
town straight through, between the property of
Jonathan Tyler and Sarah Ann Collins, extending
said street until it intersects with the road leading
from Denton to Robert Anthony's mill ; and for the
execution of the same they shall have power to pro-
vide for the payment of the damages and expenses
of opening, widening, laying out and grading of said
Market street, as well as all other streets, lanes and
alleys in said town, by levying and assessing the
same generally upon the whole of the assessable
property of said town, or specially upon the asses-
sable property of persons benefitted thereby ; they
shall for the purpose of opening Market street as
aforesaid, appoint three disinterested persons not
residents of said town, which said three named per-
sons shall on being summoned by the sheriff of
Caroline county, so to do, on or before the first day
of May, eighteen hundred and sixty-six, value the
damage to the persons through whose property it
may pass, and report the amount of damage so as-
