1862, c. 137 repeals sections 53, 61, 02, 68 and 69 and substitutes the following:
58. On the second Tuesday of April in the year
eighteen hundred and sixty-three, shall be appointed
by the orphans' court of Calvert county, one person
in each election district in said county, to be denomi-
nated the board of commissioners of public schools
for Calvert county, who shall be a body corporate
and politic, with powers to sue and be sued, and who
shall hold their office for four years from the said
second Tuesday of April, eighteen hundred and
sixty-three, and until their successors are appointed.
61. The said board of commissioners shall be com-
missioners of the school fund of said county, and
apportion among the several public schools of the

be entitled annually to receive from the state, and
the amount annually levied by the county commis-
sioners in proportion to the number of indigent chil-
dren attending each, but no school shall receive less

rules and regulations for the management and gov-
ernment of said schools, setting forth the course of
studies to be observed, the character and kind of

furnish each teacher a copy of said rules and regula-
tions, and the said board shall withhold payment from
any teacher who wilfully refuses or neglects to ob-

62. It shall be the duty of the county commis-
sioners annually to levy for the use of the public
schools the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars
in payment of interest on money borrowed by the
county from the school fund, as by act of eighteen
hundred and forty-five, chapter fifty-seven, and the
