1867, c. 143 enacts the following:

 

547. The several tobacco inspectors in the city of
Baltimore, are hereby authorized and directed to
repay out of the moneys received by them, or to
be received for storage and outage on tobacco, all
sums of money which have been improperly paid to
them respectively, since the tenth day of March, eigh-
teen hundred and sixty-four, for storage of tobacco
in their respective warehouses, before the same was
sold by the grower thereof or his agent, in violation
of the acts of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, chap-
ter three hundred and forty-six, and eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-five, chapter one hundred and ninety-
four.

1862, c. 116 repeals sections 552, 553, 554, 556, 565 and 566 and substitutes the

following:

552. The governor by and with the advice and
consent of the senate shall on or before the first
Monday of March next ensuing, and in every alter-
nate year thereafter, appoint eight inspectors and
corders of the fire wood brought to the city of Bal-
timore for sale; the said inspectors before entering
upon the duties of these offices shall take the follow-

ing oath or affirmation, as the case may be, before
some person qualified to administer the same ; I do
solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully,
truly, and impartially, according to the best of my
skill, judgment and understanding, execute, do and
perform the office and duty of an inspector or corder
of wood, according to the true intent and meaning of
the laws of this state relative to the same ; so help
me God.

authorized and directed at any time after the passage
of this law, and before the first Monday of March
