white oak, pine or cypress, and shall have at least
four hoops on the chime, and three on the bilge; and
provided, also, that nothing contained in this law
shall apply to fish in kegs of less than ten gallons.

305. The inspector may require any cask to be
filled up by the owner or owners, and by him or
them re- packed or re-pickled, and in all respects
completed in such manner as they shall direct, for
the purpose of having the same made fit for expor-
tation ; any owner or person by him employed, re-

fusing or neglecting to comply herewith, shall forfeit
and pay five dollars for each offence.

306. If any herrings or other fish hereby required
to be inspected shall, on examination thereof by the
inspector, prove to be falsely packed, that is to say,
the fish in one part of the cask of different or inferior
quality from the other, or packed with any improper
or unfit substances, with intent to defraud, the owner

Non-inspection

307. If any person shall export, or lade for expor-
tation, from the port of Baltimore, or shall sell and
deliver for exportation from the said port, any shad
or herring before the same shall have been inspected
and approved and branded and marked according to

308. If the inspector shall place any mark or
brand on any barrel or cask, other than its condi-
