155. The compensation allowed to the commis-
sioner appointed by this act shall be one dollar and
fifty cents for each deed, mortgage, bill of sale, trial
paper, cause of action or other paper or instrument
of writing which may be restored in accordance with
the provisions of this act, and for making indexes
such compensation as is allowed by law to clerks of
circuit courts for similar service, to be paid to said
commissioner by the county commissioners of Balti-
more county monthly, upon the presentation of the
account of the said commissioner to the said county
commissioners setting forth the number of deeds,
mortgages, bill of sale, trial papers, causes of action
or other instruments of writing which have been
restored ; and the number of papers indexed, &c.,
and five dollars per diem for discharging the duties
required of the said commissioner by the fourteenth

Expenses, how
paid.

156. All expenses not herein specially enumerated
incidental to the commission hereby created, shall
be certified by the said commissioner with proper
vouchers to "the said county commissioners who shall
pay the same and for the purpose of providing means
for carrying out the provisions of this act and meet-
ing the expenses of the same, the county commis-
sioners of Baltimore county are hereby authorized,
directed and required to levy upon the taxable prop-
erty of Baltimore county to be included in the levy
for eighteen hundred and sixty -seven, the sum of two
thousand dollars, which sum and all unexpended bal-
ances upon any levy which has been made by the
said county commissioners for the purpose of restor-
ing and re-establishing the said records, &c., is hereby
