356 ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY. [ART. 2.
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

1866, c. 134 repeals 1864, c. 61 which amended section 80 relating to pay and mile-
age of County Commissioners, and enacts, that all the sections of the several Arti-
cles of the Code of Public Local Laws relating to the pay and mileage of the County
Commissioners of the several Counties of this State are thereby repealed. See the
act under Public General Laws, Art XXVIII, County Commissioners.

Nora —By the act of 1887, c. 145 the County Commissioners for Anne Arundel County are
authorized to subscribe for the capital stock of the Curtis' creek Bridge Company in said
county, to any amount they may think expedient, not exceeding the sum of eight thousand
dollars and therefor to Issue their bonds, &c.

ROADS.

See the act of 1867, c. 290 relating to public Roads under Public General Laws,
Art. XXVIII, County Commissioners.

SCHOOLS.

1864, c. 83 adds the following:

1864, c. 83.
Taxes to erect
and repair
school houses.

194. The county commissioners of Anne Arundel
county are authorized in their discretion, upon the
recommendation of the school commissioners of said
county, to levy taxes upon the assessable property
of Anne Arundel county, to erect and repair school

Proviso

houses ; provided, that no school district, in any in-
stance, shall be entitled to receive more than one
hundred dollars, and the same to be applied under
the supervision and direction of the school commis-
sioners of said county.

In force from January 25, 1864.

See the act of 1865, c. 160 Public General Laws, Art —— Public Instruction, by
which all laws inconsistent therewith, are repealed.

SHERIFF.

1865, c. 71 authorize the County Commissioners to allow the Sheriff such addi-
tional compensation for the board of prisoners committed to the county jail from
March 16, 1864, to November 1, 1864, as they might deem advisable.
