VOTERS.
1867, c. 336 repeals 1865, c. 174 an act relating to the registration of the voters
of the state, and enacts the following in lieu thereof:

Officers of

appointed by
governor.

13. The officers of registration in each ward of the
city of Baltimore, and each of the counties of the
state, appointed by the governor in the year eighteen
|

hundred and sixty-six, under the provisions of the
fourteenth section of the act of eighteen hundred and
sixty-five, chapter one hundred and seventy-four, are
hereby continued in office for the period of two years
from the date of their appointment and until their
successors shall qualify; and any vacancies now
existing in said offices, or which may occur by
death, resignation, refusal to act or other cause,
shall be filled by the governor, and after the ex-
piration of said two years and every two years
thereafter, the governor shall appoint one officer of
registration for each ward of the city of Baltimore
and each election district of the several counties,
residents of said wards and districts respectively,
and shall fill all vacancies in said offices; the said
officers hereby continued in office, and so appointed
as aforesaid, shall be styled officers of registration,

and shall register as qualified voters, all white male
persons claiming and entitled to the rights of the
elective franchise, in the manner prescribed in the
following section of this article; the said officers

shall receive for their services the sum of three
dollars for each day occupied in the discharge of
their duties, to be paid by the mayor and city
council of Baltimore and the county commissioners
of the several counties of this state, and any vacan-
cies shall be filled by the governor; and all such
