82 COLLECTORS, SHERIFFS, SECURITIES, &c.

of this act, be first, paid by them: And upon the farther condition,
that at the first term of the Circuit Court for Saint Mary's county, after
the adjustment provided for by this act, they shall confess a judgment
for the principal, to be paid in instalments as herein provided.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from its
passage.

WILLIAM WALSH.

AN ACT to ratify the proceedings of the Circuit Court for Allegany county as a
Court of Equity, appointing William Walsh, trustee, to complete the collection of
State and county taxes for the years eighteen hundred and sixty and eighteen,
hundred find sixty-one, and perform the other duties of collector in place of John.
Cullan, late collector, deceased.

WHEREAS, on the application of the sureties of John Callan, deceased,
late collector of State and county taxes, for Allegany county, for the
years eighteen hundred and sixty and eighteen hundred and sixty-
one, the Circuit Court for Allegany county as a Court of Equity, ap-
pointed Wm. Walsh, trustee, to complete the collection of said taxes,
therefore:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the proceedings and orders of said court in the premises be and
the same are hereby ratified and confirmed, and that the said trustee be
and he is hereby empowered to collect said State and county taxes for
said years, eighteen hundred and sixty and eighteen hundred and sixty-
one, and discharge all the duties, and exercise all the powers appertain-
ing to the office of collector of State and county taxes under the Code
of Public General Laws.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted; That this act shall take effect from the date,
of its passage.

WILLIAM WIX.

AN ACT to make valid the acts of William Wix, as deputy of Esma Lowe, Constable,

of Caroline county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the acts of William Wix that have been or shall hereafter be
performed as the deputy appointed by Esma Lowe, constable, in the
first election district of Caroline county, shall have the same force and
effect in all respects, and be as valid and binding as if the same were
performed by the said Esma Lowe, constable, himself in person.

SEC: 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.
